1958 - 2017 Obituary Condolences
JOHNSBURG - Cody Boone Kreischer, age 59, died Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Centegra Hospital-McHenry. He was born May 26, 1958 in Evanston to Emil and Sammie (Sellars) Kreischer. On February 22, 2002, Cody married Tina S. Miller at Palatine Assembly of God Church. Cody was a graduate of Forest View High School in Arlington Heights, with the Class of 1976. In 1980, Cody received his Bachelor of Science degree (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where he majored in physics and mathematics. He went on to receive his Master of Science degree in Optical Design from the University of Arizona-Tucson in 1983. After graduation, Cody worked as a Senior Optical Engineer for RECON/OPTICAL, Inc. in Barrington, IL until 1986, when he began working full-time at Kreischer Optics, replacing his father, Emil Kreischer, as President. Cody's father began Kreischer Optics in 1948 in a one-room apartment in Evanston, and later in his basement in Des Plaines. Cody first began working for his father, Emil, as early as the fifth grade. With his hard work, determination and keen intellect, he went from mopping floors and cleaning machinery to becoming one of the most influential lens manufacturers in the United States. The business grew to its present location on Oak Drive in McHenry, becoming a premier manufacturer of precision custom optical components. Educating upcoming future Master Opticians was also very important to Cody. He donated optics labs both at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and the Optical Sciences Center at the University of Arizona, and gave public lectures and presented papers to share his great understanding of optics. He also enjoyed visiting historic battlefield sights, his coin collection and Lionel trains. His faith was very deeply embedded in the man he was, proven in 2000 when Cody lost both his wife of 18 years and 2 year old daughter in a tragic vehicular accident. He persevered through his personal loss, remaining a man of strong faith for the remainder of his lifetime. While an active member at Palatine Assembly of God, he served as both the Senior Commander of the Royal Rangers of Outpost 56, teaching youth to become godly men, and as a deacon for many years. More recently involved at Alliance Bible Church in McHenry, he has served as an elder and treasurer. Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Tina; children, Tristan (Justine) Kreischer, Alta Kreischer, Rebecca Kreischer, Benjamin Kreischer and Anna Kreischer; two grandchildren, Karis and Ozias; his sister, Deborah (Robert) Trexler; and his in-laws, Robert and Sandra Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donna Kreischer, on Sept. 18, 2000; and daughter, Jenna Kreischer on September 25, 2000. Friends may visit with his family from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2017, at McHenry Alliance Bible Church, 3815 W. Bull Valley Road, McHenry, IL 60050. Visitation will resume at church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service, Saturday, June 24, 2017, with the Celebration of Life service beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Ringwood Cemetery. For those wishing to send an expression of sympathy, his family suggest memorials honoring Cody's life be directed to McHenry Alliance Bible Church.
