A Celebration of Life for Mr. Christopher Michael "Chris" Hurst, 45, of Talladega, will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs. Trull Hill, the pastor of Central Baptist Church in Talladega, will officiate and burial will follow in Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Chris went home to be with our Lord on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at St. Vincent's East. He was greeted in heaven by the love of his life, Heather McCloud Hurst; his greatest role model, his grandfather Gwen McDonald; his nephew and namesake, Christopher Hurst; and grandparents, Margaret Hurst Mims, Edward Hurst, and Elson and Juleen Gibson. Chris was born and raised in Talladega and was a graduate of Talladega High School. Early in his career he served the citizens of Talladega County as a Corrections Officer. Later, he traveled the world as a military civilian repairing arms for our nation's soldiers. He loved animals as well and thrived as the City of Lincoln's Nuisance Abatement Officer, a job he truly loved. Chris also loved the Auburn Tigers and took at least one son whenever he could to games. Chris was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend to so many. He never met a stranger and was committed to serving his country and community. Chris chose to look for the humor in life and was never without a joke to tell and a smile on his face. His dry sense of humor was one of his most endearing qualities. Selfless and always willing to help others, he had an eclectic, loving group of friends. Chris was committed to living life his way, while loving relentlessly. Chris had too many friends to count and was loved by an extended family that knew no bounds, and though he was hard working man, his passion was undoubtedly his family. He loved his boys more than anything else on earth and always spent as much time as he could with them. Plays, ballgames, you name it. He was there. Chris is survived by his three beautiful and talented sons, Dylan Hurst (Dawn and Mike Parsons), Payton Hurst (Bridgett Irvin), and Macswell Hurst (Heather Hurst). His boys were the light of his life and he was so very proud of each of their many, and diverse accomplishments. Chris is also survived by parents, Michael and Paula Hurst, Barbara Hurst; in laws, James and Linda McCloud; his siblings, Jeramie Hurst, Johnathan Hurst, Mike Brewer and Sara Brewer; and grandmother, Lillian McDonald; countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members; and too many friends to count. Pallbearers will be Willis Whatley, Danny Nolan, Lee Isenhour, Marcus Gover, Trey Miller, and Eric Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be the Lincoln Police Department and the Talladega County Sheriff's Department. In lieu of flowers the family suggest that donations be made to the Animal Shelter of Pell City, 1071 Airport Road, Pell City, AL 35128; or to your favorite animal rescue in his name. Hurst, the only words that can be found to say are I know you are at peace now with our Heavenly Father. I will miss you more than you will ever know. And I continue to pray for Mike, Paula, Bobbie, Dylan, Peyton, Mac, Jon, and Jeremy. And Heather's family as well. You were so loved by all your family and friends. We go way back..to school and our Winn Dixie days, where we all had so much fun. I am so glad we got back in touch 3 years ago, for you are one of the very best friends I have ever had. You were a great man..this world will not be the same without you. I still am in such shock over your loss, as all of us who knew and loved you. We will hold onto our memories of you, and find comfort in them. Having you in my life was such a blessing. You were such a bright light here on Earth and I know you lit Heaven up even more. For I know where you are now, and I will see you again one day.
