Anna Roberts Obituary

Anna Louise Litz Hineman Roberts of Kennett Square Anna Louise Litz Hineman Roberts, 97, of Kennett Square, died peacefully in her sleep at the Friends Home on April 24, 2013. Anna was born Oct. 4, 1915 in Claymont, Del. Her parents were George Henry Litz and Florence Amelia Gibney Litz. She was a graduate of Claymont HS and attended the Beacom Business College in Wilm., Del. She secured a secretarial job at the DuPont Co. at the starting salary of $65 a month. Anna married her high school sweet heart Edwin S. Hineman on Oct. 12, 1938. They shared a full life raising five children and managing a thoroughbred horse farm in Chadds Ford. She participated in the first art show at Chadds Ford Elementary over 50 years ago. She also worked in the family lumber business for over 20 years. Mr. Hineman died in 1973. Anna became a certified NAVI Scuba diver at the age of 75 and found artistic inspiration for her artwork from her underwater photography. She traveled the world and has paintings in Australia, New Zealand and Germany. Many of her paintings grace permanent collections in the U.S. and abroad. She was very active in the YMCA and was on the international committee of the Brandywine Branch. She was a member of the League of American Pen Women where she served as past president of the Diamond State Branch. Her literary accomplishments were published locally and internationally. She is listed in personalities of America published by the American Biographical institute. Anna married Charles Roberts in 1978. They were active in the Kennett Square Senior Center. She and "Rudy" enjoyed a wonderful life together until his death in 2011. She is survived by three sons and one daughter, Edwin S. Hineman Jr., Clifford Oliver (Kathy), Martin Litz (Debbie) and Suzanne; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. A twin son, Donald Charles died in 2011. You are invited to visit with Anna's family from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday April 30, at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home Inc. (610-444-4116), 250 W. State St., Kennett Square, PA 19348. A memorial service celebrating her life will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be held privately at Birmingham Lafayette Cemetery.
