Carl Teter Obituary
Carl Alfred Teter, 81, of West Chester, passed away on Monday September 10, 2018, in West Grove following a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was the son of the late Dale H. Teter and Elizabeth (White) Teter and spent his life in Chester County. He graduated from West Chester High School in the class of 1955. Carl’s life centered around Teter’s Garage, Inc., the business that he started at the age of 19 and which continues to thrive in West Chester under two new generations of Teters: his son, Dale, and his grandson, Alex. He devoted his life to building his business, cultivating relationships with his customers and providing decades of unparalleled service. He was a respected mechanic and car aficionado, competing in automobile and motorcycle races in his young adult years and never losing his appreciation of a good car story to be shared. Throughout his life, he also enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, boating, and bluegrass music. Carl was preceded in death by his wife of 29 years, Patricia (Farmer) Teter, in 1990. He is survived by their three children, Barbara Teter Goodale (Neil), Dale Teter (Kathy), and Aaron Teter (Michelle); his seven grandchildren: Ian Goodale, Abigail Teter, Max Teter, Alex Teter, Benjamin Goodale, Nico Teter, Emily Teter; and two great grandchildren, Rose Goodale, Trevor Carl Teter. He was preceded in death by his brother, William and is survived by his sister, Evelyn Ristine and many nieces and nephews. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to everyone. A special thank you to the people at Twin Pines Health Care Center and Brandywine River Valley Hospice for their loving care and support during his final days. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2018, at the Founds Funeral Home, Inc., 229 South High Street, West Chester, 610-696-0134, where friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
