Edward Hall Davis Jr. Obituary
Edward Hall Davis, Jr., 74, of West Chester, died Sunday, June 10, 2018, at Rehoboth Beach, DE. He was the husband of Margaret “Peggy” Greer Davis, with whom he shared 44 years of marriage until her death in 2012. Born November 29, 1943 in San Antonio, Texas, he was the son of the late Edward Davis, Sr. and Arline Blottenberger Davis. He graduated from West Chester High School in 1961 (now Henderson High School), West Chester, and entered the Air Force where he served as an airplane mechanic. After the service, he went on to work for the family business, Moulton H. Davis Estate Lumber, with his partner Terry Davis for 30 years. His sense of adventure led him to obtain his pilot’s license as well as to numerous real estate investments with various partners, many of which have remained lifelong friends. After his retirement, he spent five years in Ellicott City, MD with his daughter Dr. Lisa M. Davis, son-in-law Dr. Lawrence Cheskin and granddaughter Libby Ann McGuire. There he co-founded the Burleigh Manor Animal Sanctuary, a nonprofit for abused farm animals, in honor of his late wife Peggy. Serving the Lord was important to him. He was a member of the Covenant Fellowship Church and Gideons International, he attended a weekly bible study and served at prison ministries. He served on many mission trips to Haiti and Africa and with the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team. Always for the underdog, he spent his life helping others. Eddie is survived by his daughter, Lisa, her husband Larry and granddaughter Libby, all of Ellicott City, Md.; son Adam Gray of Sadsburyville, PA; daughter Robin Carson and husband Mark of Rochester, NY; sister Christine West of West Chester, PA and her husband Steve; sister Edine Davis of Lagunitas, CA and her husband Jean Paul; niece Alicia Gallagher of Chester Springs, PA; nephews David Crouthamel of Downingtown, PA and Ryan Crouthamel of Powell, Ohio; nieces Susanna and Jenny Rose Frohman of Lagunitas, CA; and nephew Jake Frohman of NY, NY.
