Cynthia, I always enjoyed visiting with you in the NELA Park fitness center. I´ve thought of you and John over the years and was very sorry to read of your Father´s passing.
I know its been a few years, but from experience you´ll find yourself reaching for the phone to talk with him when reality will hit.
Please accept my condolences. So glad you had him for as long as you did!

I am Roger Himes, also a 40+ year veteran of Turner Construction Company. I met Bill in 1974, when we bought a house in Mentor, less than a mile from Bill's house. Walt Eidam, Bill and I would carpool to Cleveland each day. I had a '67 Chrysler Imperial that would very comfortable for us all! Walt had a 1971 Honda Civic that we three had a tough time fitting into. Bill had a Ford Pinto! I often sat in the backseat, side saddled, wondering if we might get rear-ended and blow up! Ha! Being engineers we would try another route to Cleveland each day to find what was the most efficient route. Lots of charts, graphs and stop watches involved. I loved Bill's tidiness and efficiency in all that he did. I recall the time he needed a new gas line to his house, but the gas company wanted too much money to run it, so Bill hand dug the line himself. From looking at Google Earth I estimate this to be about 150' long. It was the prettiest trench I had ever seen! Bill was so good natured about everything and was so much fun to be around.
I believe it was around 1976 that Bill got transferred to Nashville, and our 3-man Turner car pool ended. We kept in touch via Christmas cards each year. I am so glad that Bill had a long, fruitful life.
