Isaiah Darling Obituary

RICHMOND - Isaiah Darling, a former resident of Newport News, Virginia, slipped into a blissful sleep and entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 16, 2013, in his daughter's home. His life's journey began on June 24, 1945, the son of the late Ruth and Robert Darling, of Crenshaw, Mississippi. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He retired from the Yorktown Naval Weapons Station, after many years of dedicated service. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, but we find comfort in knowing he is now resting in the arms of Jesus. He leaves to cherish his blessed memories, his wife, Bonnie R. Darling; his daughters, Stephanie Darling-Lee (Curtis) and Danielle Darling; his sons, Matthew (Norma) and Mark Darling; his brothers, Kelly, William, Bobby, Jr. and Johnny Darling; his sisters, Jessie Jackson, Roxie Penner and Christine Darling; his grandchildren, Daniel, David, Daniela, Noah, Zion, Taylor, Trinity and Isaiah; his nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family and friends. A funeral service, celebrating the life he lived, will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2013, in Gravel Hill Baptist Church , 5426 Longbridge Road, Henrico County, Virginia, with the Rev. Dr. Ray McKenzie officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park. Family and friends will assemble at the church by 10:45 a.m. on Saturday. Mr. Darling may be viewed from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home. Professional service entrusted to the staff of Whiting's Funeral Home, 7005 Pocahontas Trail, Williamsburg, Virginia 23185 (757)229-3011.

All your prayers are so sweet and kind. I know he has touched many lives and he will continue to live in our hearts. If you can do one thing for me be sure that you do not take life for granted and that you enjoy your family and give everyone their flowers while they are still alive. To Stephanie, Danielle and the family - I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Darling's passing. I pray that Jesus heals your broken hearts and has his loving arms around you always; comforting all of you continuously because he is a Healer and Comforter. I will always cherish his memories of how he played a major part in my early childhood life regarding my spiritual walk and growth with Jesus at FBCD at biblestudy. He influenced so many young people and we will deeply miss him. Love you dearly.

I worked with Isaiah at the Weapons Station. And served with him with the Union for a number of years. I considered him a personal friend of mine. I was sorry to hear of his passing.

My friend Mr. Darling was kind to everyone. One of his many talents was cutting down trees. And he was really good at it. He said the trees cried when he cut them down. He really believed that! The trees cried again when God reached out and took Isaiah's' hand. Easy spirit, calm demeanor, negotiator, mentor, Ike was one of a kind. RIP

Our sympathies to "Darlin's" family. We enjoyed our many years working with him at the Weapons Station (Yorktown). He was always smiling and filled with laughter. He was always a helpful co-worker and we are better for knowing him. We will always remember "Darlin". Marcia and Tom Chambers
