Alice H. MOSLEY Obituary
POQUOSON - Alice Hopkins Mosley, born on Christmas Eve in 1942 and a native and lifelong resident of Poquoson, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2012, after a courageous 26 year battle with breast cancer.
She retired in 2002 as a writer/editor with the Dept. of the Army at Fort Monroe after 40 years. She was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church, Poquoson.
Alice loved gardening, traveling, country music, and going to concerts. She was a loyal supporter of Relay for Life, only missing one relay over the years (due to rain). Her special love was for her grandchildren who gave her great joy. She was an exceptional and beautiful woman and will be remembered as a "classy lady" by all who knew her.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Kate Rogers and Harry Wilbur Hopkins; brother-in-law, Gene Pankoke; and former husband, Kenneth Mosley Sr.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Mosley Jr., and wife, Jennifer, of Richmond; two grandchildren, Alexa Kate and Kenneth Grant III; two sisters (and best friends), Thelma Pankoke and Kathryn Diggs and husband, Michael, all of Poquoson; a brother, Leon Blount and wife, Mary Ellen, of Smithfield; nieces, Kim Williams and husband, Chris, Jean Merriel Blount, and Stephanie Stockum and husband, Bob; nephews, Kevin Pankoke and wife, Judy, Duane Diggs and fiancEe, Karen Schroeder, and Tim Blount and wife, Cathy; great-nephews, Brady Williams, Greyson Williams, and Carson Pankoke; special friends, Wanda Kissinger and Richey Cooper; and faithful companion, "Toby."
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson, and other times at her home. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at Emmaus Baptist Church, by Pastor Dan Cromer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the York/Poquoson Relay for Life, which she looked forward to every year. American Cancer Society, 11835 Canon Blvd., Suite A-102, Newport News, VA 23606. Online condolences to www.claytorrollins.com.
