NEWPORT NEWS - Ann Holland Turner, 78, passed away peacefully in her home Friday, Sept. 16, 2005. A lifelong resident of Newport News, she was a devoted wife, caring mother and loving grandmother. Mrs. Turner retired after working 15 years at G.C. Murphy. She was a dedicated member of Parkview Baptist Church and Caring Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Ann, and her sister, Helen McCoy of Newport News. Ann is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bernard Turner; her son, Timothy of Newport News; her daughter, Carolyn Porter and her husband, Stephen, of Midlothian; two sisters, Virginia Tilley and Thelma Lilly, both of Newport News; two granddaughters, Lindsey and Laura Porter. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Peninsula Funeral Home. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Parkview Baptist Church by the Rev. Lawrence J. Biermann and Dr. R. Furman Kenney followed by interment in Peninsula Memorial Park. Memorial donations may take the form of contributions to Parkview Baptist Church, 604 Hilton Blvd., Newport News, VA 23605, or Personal-Touch Homecare and Hospice, 732 Thimble Shoals Blvd., Suite 203, Newport News, VA 23606.
