Anna H. Winall Obituary
POQUOSON - Anna Hunter Winall, age 95, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017 in Poquoson, VA. She was a life-long resident of the Peninsula area. Born January 30, 1922 to Harry and Selma Hunter, she was predeceased in September, 2005 by her beloved husband of 61 years, Alvin Owen Winall. Surviving children are Brenda Winall Smith (Mark), Greer, SC; Alvin Owen Winall, Jr. (Kathy), Newport News; and Neal Hunter Winall (Kay), Poquoson; and son-in-law Dr. Wade Johnson, Williamsburg. She was predeceased by her eldest daughter, Peggy Winall Johnson in 1985, her granddaughter Meredith Leigh Winall in 2008, as well as a beloved daughter-in-law, Angie Johnson in 2014. Surviving grandchildren include Melinda Johnson Deal (Mike) Kingsport, Tennessee; Lauren Johnson Haium (Jason) Crozet, VA; Leslie Winall Gustafson (Brandon) Deephaven, MN; John Winall Newport News, VA; Dr. McKenzie Smith Tokyo, Japan; and Hunter Smith Fort Mill, SC. Great-grandchildren include Addison and Aubrey Deal; Peyton and Parker Haium; Henry, Hannah and Clara Gustafson; J.R., Aidan and Liam Winall; and step-grandchild Carolyn Davis. A loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother, Anna will be known for having a servant's heart in all she did. If she was cooking for her large family of loved ones and friends, she was a happy person. Her birthday pound cakes and chicken and dumplings are legendary. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, March 6, 2017 at Peninsula Memorial Park with Reverend Harold McKeithen officiating. Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The families will be at their respective homes. In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest a donation in Anna's name to a .
