Obituary Condolences

POQUOSON - Anna Lou Johnson Lockard, 84, a native and lifelong resident of Poquoson, passed away Monday, May 9, 2011, at her home.
She retired from N.A.S.A. after 42 years of service. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she served as a Youth Sunday School teacher; on numerous positions of the Administrative Board; as Lay Leader; and as a member of the Ladies Bible Class, Josephine Boulifant Circle, and United Methodist Women.
Mrs. Lockard was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Lockard Sr.; son, Billy Ray Lockard Jr.; parents, Della Bunting and Clarence Benjamin Johnson; and brother, Clarence Benson Johnson.
She is survived by two sons, John Shepherd Jr. and wife, Linda of Elm City, N.C., and Robert Johnson Lockard and wife, Violet of Poquoson; four grandchildren, Ashley Shepherd Patterson and husband, Anthony of Spotsylvania, Va., John Charles "Chuck" Shepherd of Richmond, Va., Andrew Bunting Shepherd of Glen Allen, Va., and Tabitha Lockard Kalbrener and husband, Andrew of Dickinson, Texas; and three great-grandchildren, Payton Mackenzie Patterson, Mitchell Bain Shepherd, and Gabriel Austin Piotrowski.
The family received friends Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson, and other times at 87 Bunting Lane, Poquoson. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today, at Trinity United Methodist Church by the Rev. Milford C. Rollins. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton.
