Aubrey Thomas Ferguson Obituary
NEWPORT NEWS - Aubrey Ferguson, "The last TV repairman", passed peacefully on February 22, 2017. He was 98 years young. Many on the Peninsula knew Fergie, either through his work on their TVs or his talent with gardening. Some might remember his famous crab cakes, made with crabs, which he caught from the York River. Aubrey grew up in Newsoms, VA and spent his adolescence as an orphan with his siblings at the Virginia Baptist Home. He joined the Army when he was 17 and served until the end of WWII. While he was stationed abroad, he met Megan Ball and they were married in Wales, England. They returned to Newport News where they spent the rest of their lives. In addition to his TV repair business, Aubrey worked full time at NASA in Hampton as an electronic engineer. He contributed to the Mercury Project, the Apollo Project and many classified scientific endeavors. When asked about his life, he said "There is no secret to living¿you be nice to people and they will be nice to you". Aubrey is survived by two sons Wayne (Nina) and Barry (Kristen), and one daughter Beverly. He has two grandchildren, Corey Dine Ferguson and Alisa Marie Moore. Aubrey was a generous and kind man who always put others first. He wanted to continue this kindness by sharing his famous crab cake recipe. You can find it here. http://myfishpad.com.mynetworksolutions.com/ A memorial service will be held on at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 26 at Peninsula Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Aubrey Ferguson's name to the Virginia Baptist Children's Home via the Hope Tree Foundation https://www.givedirect.org/donate/?cid=6994
