Basilios John (Bill) Kaoudis Obituary
POQUOSON - Basilios (Bill) John Kaoudis 11/26/1927 - 05/15/2015 I read in an obituary once, "How do you say good bye to someone you love?" You don't, you can't. The person stays in your heart forever. Bill, my love, the Good Lord said it is time. Basilios John (Bill) Kaoudis departed this life on Friday, May 15th, 2015. Basilios (Bill) John Kaoudis, born in Athens, Greece he served his country both in the Navy and the Merchant Marines. Bill came to the US in the mid 1950's, worked hard at various jobs before settling on a landscaping partnership. Eventually this led him to move his family to Newport News. Bills interest then turned to building. From garages to rooms then homes and restaurants. Thus Bill J. Kaoudis Inc, Builder/Developer began. Building the Aberdeen Barn Restaurants in Tyson's Corner, Virginia Beach, Newport News and Charlottesville, Gus's Hot Dog King, many sections of Newport News, Poquoson and Scotts Pond in Williamsburg. Bill was licensed by the state as a contractor in December 1966. He was past president of the Home Builders Association as well as Builder of the Year in 1982. Although Bill was a humble man, never wanting anyone to thank him for the many kindnesses he did, he was a strong, complex person, both mentally and physically. Bill enjoyed to travel, be with friends, take anyone who wanted to come fishing on his boat Wednesday's, card playing with his friends and working for his community. He served as President 1974, 1975 and Treasurer as well as working the Greek Festivals each year. Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years Gonny Maria and his children Catherine Henry (Robert) their children Shannon and Paul, John Kaoudis (Donna) their children William, Diana, Caroline and Zack, Elizabeth Ferguson (Royall) their children Royall IV, Alexander and Victor, Nicholas Kaoudis (Kathryn) their children Kelly and Michael.
