POQUOSON - Bernice F. Pollitz, 88, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2014. She was a native of Chicago, formerly lived in Highland, IN, and was a Yorktown resident since 1986 before moving to Poquoson the past 4 years. Bernice was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Yorktown, and the St. Joan's Women's Club; a member of the Amoco Oil Annuitants Club; and was First Mate of the Commodore Barbershop Chorus. "She enjoyed baking, sewing, quilting, and was devoted to her loving family and will be greatly missed." Bernice was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Richard N. Pollitz. She is survived by her children, Robert Pollitz (Sheree) of Salt Lake City, UT, Judith A. DeMuth (David) of Bloomington, IN, Mary T. Smith (Rich) of Scottsburg, IN, Barbara Sylvia (Jeff) of Poquoson, and LuAnn Keltner (Kurt) of Highland, IN; eighteen grandchildren, Ryan, Michelle, Byron Jr., Stephanie, and Sarah Pollitz, David, Jennifer, Julie, and Dustin DeMuth, Alex and Emily Smith, Megan, Caitlyn, Shannon, Lauren, and Aaron Sylvia, Katie Harbin, and Clay Keltner; and eight great-grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, 10:00 AM, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church by Father Mike Joly. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium.
