Billy P. WILSON Obituary
POQUOSON - Billy Page Wilson, 81, a native and lifelong resident of Poquoson, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012, at Riverside Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. Billy was born on Dec. 10, 1930, and was a graduate of Poquoson High School Class of 1947.
He was a loving, caring, and gentle man, a wonderful husband, generous father and grandfather who gave freely with his love and support. He was a member of the American Legion Post 273, J.O.U.A.M., Yorktown Council #66, and a 60 year Masonic Veteran with Poquoson Masonic Lodge #49 AF & AM. During the early years, Billy and Amelia "Micki" enjoyed boating and water skiing with family and friends. He also enjoyed dancing with Micki as past members of Langley and Fort Monroe Officers Clubs. He loved sports, especially the Washington Redskins and Boston Red Sox; and watching the Poquoson High School football team from the top row in stadiums all over the state.
He served in the United States Navy at the Naval School of Justice at Newport, Rhode Island; retired as an accountant after 33 years at Newport News Shipbuilding and served on various committees at Newport News Shipbuilding Employees Credit Union for more than 20 years. He was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church and sang with the George Amos Men's Choir.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Louise Wilson; a brother, Eugene Wilson; and a stepmother, Mary Wilson.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Amelia "Micki" G. Wilson; sons, Alan "A.D." Wilson (Beth) and Graham Wilson (Beth Ann); grandchildren, Kasey Wilson and Graham Wilson Jr.; brothers, Ben Wilson Jr. (Doris) and Ron Wilson (Betty); a sister, Amy Budner (Martin); a sister-in-law, Ruth Wilson; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 3, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson, and other times at the family home. A funeral service will be held Saturday, 2 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, Poquoson by the Rev. Charles Stacy. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton with Navy Honors & Masonic Rites.
