Bonnie C. STANFIELD Obituary
POQUOSON - Bonnie C. Stanfield, 71, born in Ephrata, Pa., a resident of Poquoson for 42 years, and now residing in Southampton County, Va., passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012.
Bonnie was a past member of Poquoson High School Band Boosters; past member of the Poquoson Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department Ladies Auxiliary; past member of Poquoson Seafood Festival Committee; a devoted Girl Scout leader; and a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church, Newport News. She enjoyed poetry and had several poems published, and was a passionate cat lover. She was a homemaker and loving mother.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her father, Bruce Showalter Hassler; maternal grandparents, Helen E. and Clair B. Mohn; and paternal grandparents, Florence J. and Henry H. Hassler.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert Eugene Stanfield; two daughters, Debbra Colleen Stanfield, and Carol Stanfield Wood and husband, Jesse; mother, Anna Virginia Hassler; brother, Anthony B. Hassler; sister, Christine L. Hassler; grandchildren, Virginia Colleen Williams, Jessica Lynn Adams and husband, Will, and Robert Karl Wood and fiancée, Ashley Moore; great-grandchildren, Liam and Landon Adams; friends who are special to our family, Patricia and Gary Lawson; many nieces and nephews; and her faithful companion, Pinky.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson, and other times at 16 Langley St., Poquoson. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Hank Hollar. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton.
