C. Wayne Williams Obituary
POQUOSON - C. Wayne Williams passed away on December 5, 2014. Wayne was born in Williamsburg, VA on February 29, 1928, and was the son of the late Perry and Irene Williams. He was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church, Poquoson. After serving briefly in the U. S. Army he began a career with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) that spanned 41 years retiring in 1984 as Head of the Publications Branch. He was recognized with numerous awards throughout his career including the prestigious NASA Exceptional Service Metal. Over the years he had many hobbies including landscaping, woodworking, and country western dancing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and many close friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Williams and three brothers, Perry, Kenneth, and Robert Williams. He leaves behind two sons, Wayne Williams, Jr. and wife, Chris of Poquoson, and Gene Williams and wife, Mary Ann, and great-grandchild Landon, all of Kitty Hawk, NC; a daughter, Geri Williams of Poquoson; five grandchildren, Justin Williams and wife, Kristy, and great-grandchild Ava of Winnabow, NC, Erica Cameron and husband, Matt Thimons, and great-grandchild Marlee of Newport News, Roger Cameron of Newport News, Paul Casper and wife, Debbie of Henderson NV, and Angela Casper of NC; and a host of nieces and nephews. He also leaves a sister Ethel and husband Ken Thompson, of CA; and two younger brothers, Lester Williams and wife Joyce, of Smithfield, and Milbourne Williams, of Hampton. His loving family has lost a cherished father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. The world has lost a kind and generous man whose friendship enriched the lives of those who knew him. The family will receive friends Wednesday, 10-11:00 AM, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 AM by Rev.
