David G. BREWER Obituary
POQUOSON - David Grant "Dave" Brewer, 86, a native of Sidney, Neb., and a resident of Poquoson for more than 37 years, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012.
He retired in 1974 from L. A. County as the deputy director of data processing. Dave was a man of Christian faith and believed in serving his country through the U.S. Navy and strongly supporting financially and physically for the Democratic Party. Dave enjoyed life before and after retirement through fresh-water fishing, sailing, back packing and hiking, and most of all time with his family. "Grandpa with Charlie (a past pet companion)' as he was known through the eyes of his family was a loving husband, wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be greatly missed by all.
Mr. Brewer was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy Mae Brewer; parents, David C. and Marie T. Brewer; a sister, Patricia Kendrick; and devoted pet companions, Charlie and Kelly.
He is survived by his loving sons, Michael D. Brewer and wife, Teri and Thomas C. Brewer Sr. and Pricilla Tallent; grandchildren, Vicki Trembley and husband, James, C. David Brewer and wife, Ashley, and Thomas C. Brewer II; great-grandchildren, Joseph Trembley, Matthew Trembley, Catherine Trembley, Michael Trembley, Elizabeth Trembley, Grant Brewer, Forest Brewer; a sister, Mary Louise Frankberger; and a faithful pet companion, "Scruffy.'
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, in the funeral home chapel by Chaplain Cary Koronas. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton.
