POQUOSON - Delores "Tootsie" Forrest, 79, a lifelong resident of Poquoson, passed away after a short illness on Saturday, October 21, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Tootsie worked as a nurse's aide for several years at Bayberry Hospital, Hampton and later worked side by side with her husband at W. Haywood Forrest Seafood in Poquoson. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and took pride in her yard, and loved raising her papillons, Princess and Penny. Tootsie was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Thomas; siblings, Roger Thomas, Dwight Thomas, Etta Mae Thomas, Maxine Von Bergen, Josephine Thomas, and Joyce Jenkins. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Walter L. Forrest; daughter, Teresa Forrest Bunting (Olen); grandchildren, Laura Bunting Hornsby (Melvin) & their son, Tyler, and Olen Brian Bunting (Melissa) & their sons, Forrest and Michael; and a loving niece, Ann Morrison (Jim). The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 24, 1-2:30 PM, immediately followed by her funeral service at 2:30 PM led by Pastor Tricia Riggs, all at Trinity United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton. At other times the family will be at Teresa & Olen's home. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 1294 Poquoson Ave., and to the Poquoson Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 2099, both in Poquoson, VA, 23662.
