Dolly Messick Woolard Obituary
POQUOSON - Dolly Messick Woolard, 89, a native and lifelong resident of Poquoson, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Dolly retired from Wachovia Bank after many years of service. She was an active member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church where she served many roles including Sunday school teacher and church secretary. She was a beloved leader of the children's choir for over 47 years. Dolly was preceded in death by her husband, George Woolard; parents, Tom and Deniza Messick; sisters, Patty Couch, Mary Edwards, and Indiana Goodson; and brother, Tom Messick Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth "Libby" McGraw and husband Michael; two grandchildren, Rachel McCarty and husband Keith, and Christy Stegman. She was loved dearly and will be missed by four great-grandsons, Jackson Stegman, Forrest McCarty, Garrett McCarty and Grant Tarring. "Many thanks to her caregiver and friend Janel Bolt for exceptional care." The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 PM tonight at Tabernacle United Methodist Church and other times at 21 Whitehouse Circle, Poquoson. Her funeral service will be held Monday, 11:00 AM, at the church led by Rev. James N. Earley II. Burial will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News. Memorial contributions may be made to Tabernacle United Methodist Church, 831 Poquoson Ave., or to the Poquoson Volunteer Fire & Rescue, P. O. Box 2099, both in Poquoson, VA, 23662.
