Douglas Lee Morrison Obituary
POQUOSON - Douglas Lee Morrison passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. Doug was born on May 13, 1941 in Mount Airy, NC. Doug started Morrison's Construction 38 years ago and grew it into the well-known and respected general contracting company it is today. Until a month ago he was still working full-time, managing several large projects. Doug has been a member of Liberty Baptist Church for 42 years, where he served as a deacon, Director of Sunday School, and teacher for many of those years. Doug is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Audrey; his mother Mozelle Morrison of Hampton; two sons and daughters-in law, Wayne and Debby Morrison and Eddie and Becky Morrison, all of Poquoson; a daughter, Dawn Kingston of Richmond; five grandchildren, Zach Morrison, Morgan and Micah Kingston, and Rachel and Bradshaw Morrison; sister-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Smith of NC; and a nephew, Farris Smith of France. Doug loved Harley Davidsons, handguns, Survivor and anything having to do with Alaska. He also enjoyed traveling to places such as Dubai, Greece, France, England and New York. But the biggest love in Doug's life was his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, whom he served for over 65 years. Called Pop by his sons, Daddy by his daughter, Papa and Grandpa by his grandchildren and Uncle Doug by his nephew, Doug was a great man of faith, fun, integrity, and strength. He worked hard and cared about people, and he will be missed by all. The family will have visitation on Friday, November 21, 2014 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at Liberty Baptist Church in Hampton VA. A Celebration of Doug's life will be held at 12:30 pm following visitation at the church. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Building Fund at Liberty Baptist Church. Friends are encouraged to visit www.parklawn-woodfh.com to share memories and words of condolence with the family.
