POQUOSON - Douglas Paul Freeman, 51, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, and went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 16, 2014. Dougie was a lifelong resident of Poquoson, a Poquoson High School graduate, and a member of Emmaus Baptist Church. He worked for Poquoson Disposal, Pearl's Landscaping, Farm Fresh, and most recently, Grass Wackers. Dougie was preceded in death by his father, Henry Earl Freeman Jr.; grandfather, Henry Earl Freeman Sr.; grandparents, Vernon "Papa" Owenby & Mary "Ma" Owenby Wilson; and grandfather, Ben "Mr. Benny" Wilson. He is survived by his mother, "Jeannie" Freeman; brothers, David Freeman & wife, Pam, and Darrell Freeman & wife, Myra; nephew, Jim Freeman; and grandmother, Nancy Freeman, all of Poquoson; aunts and uncles, Floyd Russell Freeman & friend, Anita Boyd of Nashville, TN, Mark & Susie Bellamy of Poquoson, and Art & Jo Ann Charlesworth of Richmond; and many cousins. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 20, 6:30-8:00 PM, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson, and other times at his home. Dougie's funeral service will be Friday, March 21, 11:00 AM, at the funeral home by Pastor Dan Cromer. Burial will follow at Emmaus Baptist Church Cemetery, Poquoson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Animal Aid Society, 80 Butler Farm Rd., Hampton, VA, 23666, or the Poquoson Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O.
