Edith C. WHITE Obituary
POQUOSON - Edith Charline Forrest White, 87, born Oct. 8, 1924, and a lifelong resident of Poquoson, passed away Monday, July 30, 2012, at home surrounded by her family.
She was a wife, mother, administrative assistant, and retired in 1989 as owner/operator of Poquoson Hardware, along with her husband. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher; Bible school teacher; member of John Wesley Fellowship Class; member of the Marion Page Circle; and member of the United Methodist Women. She volunteered for more than 50 years at Poquoson Election Polls, serving as a precinct head official for 10 years.
Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Wallie Gene White, who died on July 21, 2012; parents, Robert Claytor and Mary Augusta Forrest; brothers, Robert H. Forrest and twin L. Charles Forrest; sisters, Virginia Page and Lucille Merica; grandparents, Charles and Sallie Forrest, and Lorenzo and Rosanna Topping; and brother-in-law, Bill Proctor.
She is survived by three daughters, Jean Allen Roberts (Dick), Edith Marie Page (Larry), and Sallie Charline Fox (Dean); a sister, Nellie Rollins (Benton); seven grandchildren, Valerie Hutchison (Mike), Angie Rinck (Matt), Jeff Roberts, Mandy Jones (Tom), Justin Fox (Leah), Amy Smith (Chris), and Andrew Fox (Crystal); nine great-grandchildren, Blake Brantley, Sydney Rinck, Isabella Hutchison, Baylor Rinck, Caroline Hutchison, Paul Fox, Anne Fox, Julie Ellis, and Grace Jones; an aunt, Lillian Pelesz; a sister-in-law, Esther Marie Proctor; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church, immediately followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. in the church by the Rev. Charles R. Stacy, the Rev. Milford C. Rollins, and the Rev. George T. Insley Jr. Burial will follow at Smith Memorial Cemetery, Poquoson. At other times, the family will be at the home, 120 Villa Drive, Poquoson.
