Edward W. WEAVER Obituary
NEWPORT NEWS - E. Wilbur Weaver, 98, born on Feb. 25, 1914, in New Kent County, died Monday, May 7, 2012. Wilbur was the third of his late parents' (Rebecca and William) seven children; the loving husband of Margaret (Roberts) for more than 75 years; proud father of Sandra Marshall (Buck), Sharon Knowles, and Pam Haskins (Mickey); and delighted grandfather and great-grandfather of 14. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Beverly, Frank, Chick, Brown, and Dee. He is survived by his sister, Marguerite Smith; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Norris and Mary Roberts; sisters-in-law, Betty Weaver, Jean Bates, and Mae Weaver, and numerous nephews and nieces.
A gentle man of quiet faith and grace, he was a good neighbor, a good friend, a good human being. Over the course of his long life, he may have met someone he didn't like, but if he did, he kept it to himself. He was never unkind. Having worked many years as a foreman at a printing company, it is fitting Wilbur left a mark, a lovely, indelible mark on the hearts of those whose lives were enriched by loving him. We shall not look on his like again. He brought us joy.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at Peninsula Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Friday, May 11, at Orcutt Baptist Church, with interment to follow at Peninsula Memorial Park. A reception will be held in the Sunroom at The Hidenwood after the ceremony.
Rather than flowers, Wilbur would have preferred that any kindnesses offered in his memory go to those in need. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.
