POQUOSON - Geneva McPherson Lane, 86, a native & lifelong resident of Poquoson, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 4, 2015. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Poquoson; volunteered at the Parish Thrift Shop in Poquoson for many years; and enjoyed raising prize winning roses in her garden. Genny was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Judson "Jud" Lane, and was the last living of the eight McPherson children. She is survived by two sons, Tommy Lane & wife Joanne of Yorktown, and Jeff Lane & wife Donna of Gloucester; four grandchildren, Deenie Lane of Norfolk, Thomas Lane & wife Helen of Newport News, Megan Toben & husband Tim of Chapel Hill, NC, and Evan Lane & fiancée Rebecca Downs of Durham, NC; and great-grandchildren, Kaia and Ezra. "She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and adored all her many nieces & nephews." The family will receive friends Friday, August 7, 2015, 10-11:00 AM, at Trinity United Methodist Church, immediately followed by a Celebration of Genny's life at 11:00 AM in the church sanctuary by Rev. Carol Bookwalter. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Interment will be at 2:00 PM at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 1294 Poquoson Ave., Poquoson, VA, 23662. Online condolences to claytorrollins.com .
