Geraldine P. McMAHAN Obituary
POQUOSON - Geraldine Pigford Holloway McMahan, 78, loving wife and mother, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 1, 2011, at Sentara Careplex after a lengthy illness. She was a native of Willard, N.C., and Poquoson resident since 1958.
Geraldine retired in 2002 from housekeeping at Dominion Village of Poquoson after twelve years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Josephine Boulifant Circle, and the Wesley Fellowship Sunday School Class. She loved quilting and crocheting.
Geraldine is survived by her husband, Herman W. McMahan; three sons, William Donald Pigford and wife, Patty of Poquoson, Tommy Earl Pigford and wife, Diane of Chesapeake, and Jimmy Lewis Pigford and wife, Allyson of Carrollton; two stepdaughters, Beverly Kay Birtha of Everett, Wash., and Peggy Lee Justice and husband, Ken of Benton, Ark.; two brothers, Herbert Lewis Moore and wife, Armour, and Franklin W. Moore and wife, Pauline, all of Rose Hill, N.C.; three sisters, Lillian M. Barnhill of Wilmington, N.C., Betty M. McPhail and husband, Kenneth of Tomahawk, N.C., and Edith M. Ottoway of Durham, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Trinity United Methodist Church fellowship hall, immediately followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. in the church sanctuary by the Rev. C. Eugene Meek and the Rev. Milford C. Rollins. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church Living Our Faith, 1294 Poquoson Ave., or the Poquoson Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 2099, both in Poquoson, VA 23662.
