Indiana M. GOODSON Obituary
POQUOSON - Indiana Messick "Indy" Goodson, 74, a native and lifelong resident of Poquoson, passed away with family by her side Thursday, March 29, 2012, at Northampton Convalescent Center.
She was a graduate of Poquoson High School and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Indy was a loving and strong "momma" and "granny" to her family and to the children and youth from Back River Youth Sports. She was consider the "momma Goodson" and "granny Goodson" too many. Indy and her late husband, Keith, started Back River Youth Sports for children in the community to learn and grow in sports through football, baseball, wrestling, and cheerleading for all ages. She was also involved in the Poquoson High School J. V. Baseball program. Indy was employed as a bus driver for the Poquoson School System and retired in 2007 after 36 years of service. "Miss Indy" has given her life to the community she lived in by loving, giving, encouraging, and faithfully serving our children and families of Poquoson. Whether driving the school bus, building a Youth Sports Program for all ages, volunteering at the school sports programs, or being momma or granny to her family, she will be greatly missed by all.
Indy was preceded in death by her late husband, Keith Goodson Sr.; a son, Timothy Goodson; her parents, Tom and Nicey Messick; and two sisters and a brother.
She is survived by sons, Keke Goodson and wife, Dana, and Todd Goodson and wife, Jennifer Thomas; a daughter, Edie McConnell and husband, John; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a sister, Dolly Wollard; a daughter-in-law, Missy Goodson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson, and other times at her home, 41 Bunting Lane. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, at Trinity United Methodist Church by the Rev. Eugene C. Meek. Inurnment will be private.
