POQUOSON - Janice Janice Elaine Miller, 71, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 4, 2017. She was born September 26, 1946 in Wichita, Kansas where she lived for 23 years. Jan was the loving wife of Lt Col (USAF Ret.) Barry A. Miller, and a devoted and supporting spouse of her husband during his 45 year Air Force career (26 years Active Duty & 19 years Civil Service). She is survived by husband Barry, and sister Mary Lacy of Woodland Park, CO. She is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Donn Miller of Chesterbrook, PA and Alan Miller of Lake George, NY; three sisters-in-law, Carol Maxwell of Nashville, TN, Janet Imming of Gainesville, FL, and Elizabeth Hesson of Trumansburg, NY; and many nieces and nephews by whom she was deeply loved. Jan was predeceased by her parents, Rolla Loyd and Ruby Millspaugh; and brother Rolla Loyd Millspaugh Jr. of Wichita, KS.
Jan was an accomplished and talented woman. An excellent cook and homemaker, she enjoyed entertaining visitors, guests, and family. She kept a beautiful home and was always by her husband's side to support and care for him. Jan and Barry were married 44 years in a loving caring relationship and they enjoyed traveling together. She was an avid dog lover, and Barry and she had raised many collie and shelties, often from puppies to adulthood.
Jan was a beautiful, caring Christian woman and a regular member of the Langley AFB 8:30 AM traditional Protestant service where she had many Christian friends. She will be missed by all her family and friends whose life she touched in many ways.
The body will be in repose for viewing on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 9AM to 5 PM and you can greet the family from 2-4 PM that day at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson. A Celebration of Jan's life will be Saturday, December 30, 2:00 PM, at the funeral home.
