John Thomas Millan Obituary
POQUOSON - John Thomas Millan, 83, passed away March 16, 2013. He was a thirty year veteran of the Air Force, serving in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He received many distinguished medals and battle citations from Inchon to Hamburg. After retiring from military service, he worked at the Naval Air Rework Facility until retiring after 15 years. He was a founding member of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Community, and was a fourth degree Knights of Columbus member for many years. John was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-five years, Catherine, and brothers, Donald and Joseph Millan. Originally he was from Allentown, PA, where he is survived by a sister, Mary Brem, and a brother in Miami, David Millan. He is also survived by two sons, John David and Timothy Joseph; two daughters, Sandra Saliba and Kathleen Millan; grandchildren, Aaron Watkins, Scarlett Watkins, Melanie Tew, Douglas Allen Jr., Mallory Allen, Lyndsey Allen, and Michael Millan; great-granddaughter, Samiya Allen; many nieces, nephews, and wonderful extended family and friends, notably George & Ruby Belock, with special thanks to Bob & Iris Speechley. The family will receive friends Thursday, 7-8:30 PM, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held Friday, 11:00 AM, at St. Kateri Catholic Church, Tabb, by Father Charles J. Faul. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton, with Air Force honors. A reception will follow the interment back at the church.
