POQUOSON - Kathleen M Murdock, 55, was welcomed home to heaven on April 30, 2016. She was a native of Peoria, IL and lived in Poquoson for the past 16 years. The youngest of 9 siblings, Kathy Murdock was passionate about spending time flexing her green thumb in her flower gardens. Her grandkids were the light of her life and she spent much of her time shopping for them and keeping in touch with them. She was an exceptional creator; she used her imaginative mind making many crafts and practicing many different art forms, including painting, crochet, decorating, needlework. She loved cooking, canning, and feeding people. Kathy loved traveling and helping people. She never knew a stranger and enjoyed talking to anyone she met. Kathy is preceded in death by her adored son, Mark D Murdock II. She spent every day thinking of him and missing him with every fiber of her being. She is also preceded in death by her mother, Betty H. (Goble) Lower and father, Maurice A. Lower. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Mark D Murdock; her daughters, Laura Reyes (Edwin) of Fairview, KS, Ashley Elliott (T.J.) of Buffalo, MN , Annastasia Williams of Newville, PA; grandchildren, Christian, Tiffany, and Justin Cano of Houston, Texas, Harper and Kayson Elliott; and her great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Plante; also siblings: Pat Zeiler, Palm Harbor, FL, JoAnn Hutchinson, Pinellas Park, FL, Garry Lower, Inglis, FL, Tom Lower and Carol Smith both of Peoria, IL, Wanda Rogers, Morton, IL, Janice Meyer, Tucson, AZ, and Rebecca Sturdivant, Gloucester Point, VA. Kathy has numerous nieces and nephews who will miss her along with countless friends across the country. Visitation will be Wed., May 4, 7:00-8:30 PM, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson. Funeral Services will be held Thurs. May 5, 1:30 PM at Claytor Rollins with burial immediately following at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton. Post condolences at claytorrollins.com .
