Brother Larry Edward Haymes, son of Lawrence and Carrie Haymes, made his earthly debut into this world on June 1, 1968 in Washington, D.C. He departed this life on April 11, 2018 at Valley Medical Center in Renton, Washington. Larry was educated in the Newport News, VA Public School System. He graduated from Menchville High on June 14, 1987. He was a track star at Menchville High and also a member of its show choir. He later enlisted in the United States Army in 1987 where he spent 29 years of active and reserve duty before retiring. Some of his duties included being a member of the Ranger Battalion at Fort Lewis in Seattle Washington. After retirement Larry went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in nursing. He then went on to become a Registered Nurse at the Veterans Hospital in Seattle. One of Larry's greatest achievements was being chosen to carry the 1996 Olympic Torch in Tacoma Washington. Larry was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Harry Still and Thomas Haymes and grandmother, Audrey Haymes. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Jody Haymes of Kent, Washington, his mother, Carrie Haymes of Newport News, VA, father, Lawrence Haymes of Washington, D.C., mother-inlaw, Carol Graham of Washington State, grandmother, Mary Clayton of Hampton, VA, two brothers, Antonio Still of Philadelphia, PA, Derrick Haymes (Janice) ofTemple Hills, MD, two aunts, Mary Ratliffe of Danville, VA and Marion Sutherland of New York. Service of Celebration for Larry we be held Saturday May 19, 2018 at Antioch Baptist Church, Newport News, VA at 1:00PM.
