Linda Diane DeBolt DuBose Obituary
POQUOSON - Linda Diane DeBolt DuBose, 64, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on July 26, 2017 after a courageous battle with Churg Strauss Syndrome. Linda was born to Burleigh and Louise DeBolt on April 11, 1953 in Ft. Meade, Maryland. Linda was raised in Gloucester, Virginia where she found her lifelong soulmate, Clyde DuBose, while cheering him on at football games. She continued to cheer at William and Mary where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in teaching and gained many 'sisters' in the Pi Beta Phi sorority. She later earned her Master's degree at Old Dominion University. Linda and Clyde found Poquoson as their home where they would raise their two sons and welcome a daughter in-law and two grandchildren. Linda found her first, and only!, teaching job in the Poquoson City School System teaching English for high school students. She taught at Poquoson High School for 42 years prior to retiring this past June. Her career at Poquoson introduced her, and her family, to many new friends, all of which she considered family. As a teacher she never viewed any student as a student but as one of her own children. Her selfless devotion to her students epitomized what it means to be an educator. Linda is survived by her husband, Clyde; their sons, Michael (wife Kristin, children Caleb and Madelyn), and David; sisters, Brenda Ashe (husband Chucky) and Dawn Laughlin (husband Mark); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. A Celebration of Linda's life will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, 831 Poquoson Ave, Poquoson, VA 23662 at 12:00 noon. A reception will follow at the Poquoson Yacht Club, 417 Messick Road, Poquoson, VA 23662. Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson, is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to the Poquoson Education Foundation, PO Box 2425, Poquoson, VA 23662. "The family asks that everyone spend time with your family, take long walks on the beach with your loved ones and toast to those here, absent and gone, but never forgotten. Mom would want nothing less."
