POQUOSON - Lois Pauls went to be with the Lord on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at 4:06 a.m., at her home.
Born Jan. 4, 1933, in Hindman, Ky., she later moved to Virginia with her family. Lois loved life and her family. In her early years, she worked for the Department of the Navy at the Newport News Shipyard and after marriage she stayed home to raise her four children. Once she successfully raised her children, she went back to work at Noland Company where she retired in 1992. Lois was a member of Menchville Baptist Church and loved the Lord. She was blessed that her entire family was nearby and each Sunday it was not uncommon to have 25 people in her house enjoying food and family time.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Myrtle Amburgey; and her brother, Philip Amburgey.
Surviving her is her beloved husband, William Rodophus "Dolly" Pauls Jr.; daughter, Linda Mesibov and husband, David; sons, Bill and wife, Emily, Bruce and wife, Jenny, and Mark and wife, Mary Anne; eight grandchildren, Rod, Phillip, Courtney, Katie, Brittney, Annaliese, Bruce Jr., and Mark; five great-grandchildren, Quinn, Kyle, Colby, Jaidan and Will; a sister, Herma Royals of Grafton; cousins include Jim Stacey of South Africa, and Fred Stacey of Rome City, Ind.; and many other loving family members.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. tonight, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson, and other times at the home, 3 Key Oak Drive. A celebration of Lois's life will be held 2 p.m. Monday, at Menchville Baptist Church, Newport News, by Pastor James Weston Jr. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton.
Memorial contributions may be made to Menchville Baptist Church Building Fund, 248 Menchville Rd., Newport News, VA 23602.
