Luther Ray HICKS Obituary
POQUOSON - L. Ray Hicks passed away at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 59.
He was a machinist by trade and previous owner/operator of Hicks' Fries, a mobile concession. Ray was a member of Warwick Masonic Lodge #336, Warwick Chapter #43 Eastern Star, and Scottish Rite of Freemasonry in Alexander.
Ray is survived by his loving wife and soul mate of 25 years, Elizabeth Hicks; stepdaughter, Shari Sievers and husband, Chris; stepson, Budd Inge; step-grandchildren, Douglas Tucker Jr. and Samantha Sievers; uncle, William Hicks and wife, Doris; brother, Leroy Hicks; and his best friend, Jerry Stokes. He will also be missed by his canine kids, Odie, Kelli, and Daisy.
Special thanks go out to his hospice nurses, Jessica and Jamie, for their loving care of Ray. He always looked forward to Jessica's visits.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson, and other times at his home. A celebration of Ray's life will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, in the funeral home chapel, by the Rev. C. Eugene Meeks. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton, with Masonic Rites.
