POQUOSON - Lydia Avis Evans "Lottie" Hopkins, 87, a native & lifelong resident of Poquoson, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was a homemaker; a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church, the Women's Chorus and Joyful Hearts Choir; was Past President of American Legion Women's Auxiliary Unit 273; and enjoyed delivering Meals On Wheels in Poquoson. Lottie was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Edward R. Hopkins; son, Edward R. "Butch" Hopkins Jr.; and parents, Mary Louise & Clarence Evans, of whom she was the youngest, and last surviving, of twelve children. She is survived by her children, Gerald W. Hopkins & wife, Catherine of Poquoson, Kenneth K. Hopkins of Newport News, Kimberly H. Deibler & husband, Brian of Hampton, and Douglas E. Hopkins of Poquoson; grandchildren, Tammy Winder, Justin Hopkins (Sara), Marsha Mullins (Kevin), Tracy Tingen (Britt), Brian Deibler (Ruth), Tim Deibler (Jamie), Rebecca Hopkins, Sean Hopkins, Allyson Hopkins, Evyn Hopkins, Sherrie Duncan, and James Duncan; fifteen great-grandchildren and one on the way; and one great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends Monday, 7-8:30 PM, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson, and on Sunday at her son Jerry's home in Poquoson. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, 1:00 PM, at Tabernacle United Methodist Church by Rev. Dr. Bill Wash and Rev. Carol Bookwalter. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton.
