Mack C. BURCHER Obituary
POQUOSON - Mack C. Burcher, 85, a native of York County and resident of Poquoson for 62 years, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012, following a brief illness.
He was married to the late Elizabeth Anne Forrest, in 1950, and settled in Poquoson. Mack's family grew to four with the birth of their daughter, Amy and later their son, Barry.
He worked as a civil service supervisor at Fort Eustis for 38 years, later for Northrop Grumman for 12 years, as well as a business owner of Poquoson Auto Parts for over 26 years. Mack was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Men's Bible Class. He was also a member of the Poquoson Masonic Lodge #49 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, and Khedive Shriners. He was an avid gardener and loved spending time with his family and friends.
Mack was also preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Fannie Burcher; a brother, Clyde Burcher; and two sisters, Annie Wilson and Ethel Flory.
He is survived by his children, Amy Burcher Robinson and husband, Chris, and John Barry Chelton Burcher and wife, Dee; grandchildren, Courtney Anne Hastings and husband, Todd, Ashley Elizabeth Robinson, and Tyler Chelton Burcher.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Poquoson, immediately followed by a funeral service at 12:30 p.m., in the church sanctuary, by the Rev. Charles R. Stacy and the Rev. George T. Insley Jr. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton, with Masonic Rites.
