Obituary Condolences

POQUOSON - Mildred Jeanette Clarke died on July 2, 2013 at the age of 100. She was the daughter of Clyde C. and Ida Henderson Clark of Titusville, PA. She was born there on November 12, 1912. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles A. Clarke, and her brother, Delos P. Clark. Mildred grew up on a farm and began her education in a one-room country school, and graduated from Titusville High School and Bryant-Stratton Business College in Buffalo, NY. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church Hampton, where she was church secretary for many years. Mildred is survived by her daughter, Helen C. Calhoun of Clarksville, TN; her son, William H. Clarke of Poquoson; grandsons, C. Dwight Clarke (Cindy) of White Stone, VA, Steven D. Clarke (Jen) of Poquoson, and James Calhoun III of Clarksville, TN; granddaughter, Elizabeth C. Britt of Clarksville, TN; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Gale Bristow and her girls, as well as the staff at Golden Living-Bayside, for the wonderful care they took of our mother for many years. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church, Hampton. Interment will be held at Lewinsville Presbyterian Church Cemetery, McLean, VA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Poquoson Public Library, 500 City Hall Ave., Poquoson, VA 23662 or to the First Presbyterian Church, 514 S. Armistead, Hampton,VA.
