Muriel B. FIRTH Obituary
POQUOSON - Muriel Benson Firth, 81, a native and lifelong resident of Poquoson, passed away Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, surrounded by his loving family.
He retired in 1989 from B.A.S.F., after 25 years, and worked as a waterman from then on. He was a member of the Poquoson Waterman's Assn., and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Mr. Firth was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah and George Firth Sr.; and brother, Jerry "Boozer" Firth.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mazie Firman Firth; son, Danny Firth and wife, Sharlene of Louisa, Va.; daughter, Donna Armistead of Poquoson; granddaughter, Angel Forrest of Poquoson; great-granddaughter, Kaylie Forrest of Poquoson; sisters, Minnie Firman of Poquoson, Jennie Firth and husband, E. T. Firth of Poquoson, and Nellie Steele of Tennessee; brothers, Charles "CT" Firth and wife, Pam of Gloucester, and George "Man" Firth Jr. and wife, Eva of Alton, Va.; sister-in-law, Frances Firth of Alton; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. today, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson, by Pastor Donald G. Marsh and the Rev. Milford C. Rollins. Burial will follow at Weston Cemetery, Poquoson, with military honors. Other times the family will be at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Messick Cemetery Association, 1436 Poquoson Ave., Poquoson, VA 23662.
