Nancy Jane Insley Evans Obituary
POQUOSON - Nancy Jane Insley Evans entered this world to Charles Henry and Norvel Dunaway Insley on June 24, 1939, and passed away Sunday afternoon, December 23, 2012, surrounded by loving family and a close family friend in Riverside Regional Medical Hospital after a brief illness caused by cardiac issues which arose suddenly. Nancy was a native and lifelong resident of Poquoson, and was a very dedicated wife and mother who, along with her husband, selflessly put the needs of her family before her own, often doing without to ensure that her children always had what they needed. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church since childhood and although health issues made it difficult for her to be active in church, she always held God close to heart and in her prayers. She spent many years in the garage with her husband, doing auto body work, engine repair, and the like in an effort to make ends meet. She met every task with a fire and determination that could not be questioned. If she didn't know how to do something, she found a way to make it happen and worked very hard to instill that fire of determination in her children. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, and son-in-law, Robert "Bobby" Brooks of Gloucester. She leaves to cherish her memories her loving and dedicated husband of 53 years, Gary Ronald Evans; a son, Gary David Evans of Newport News; a daughter, Christine Brooks of Gloucester; grandchildren, Jessica Marie Evans of Rincon, GA, Jaymes "Cole" Brooks, Jennifer Erin "Sissy" Brooks, and Jonathan "Morgan" Brooks, all of Gloucester; and a very close cousin and family friend, Betty Smith of Newport News. Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 28th, 7-8:30 PM, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 2:00 PM, at the funeral home by Rev. Charles R. Stacy. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, 836 Poquoson Ave., Poquoson, VA, 23662, to help cover funeral expenses.
