Ralph Leon Chambers Obituary
Ralph Leon Chambers passed away, at the age of 98, on Saturday, November 24th, 2018, in Newport News, Virginia, of natural causes.He was born December 31, 1919, in Glenwood, Iowa, to Ralph Leon and Opal Chambers. Born on a farm he grew up there, graduated from high school then off to business school where he met his wife Myrna and married.He enlisted in the Army and came up in ranks to Chief Warrant Officer for General Lyman Lemnitzer until he retired in 1969 and General Orwin C. Talbott from 1973-1975 which he retired for the second time. Ralph was a highly decorated soldier, a career soldier. He served his country for over 30 years.Ralph was a man of strength, love, compassion, charity, wisdom, integrity and loyalty. His devotion to his wife, sons, families and friends is beyond explanation. He touched and made a difference in many lives. He was a man of many achievements."Rest easy fallen giant, stalwart sons guard you well."Ralph was proceeded in death by his loving wife Myrna and his grandson Ralph L. Chambers III. Survivors include son Larry W. Chambers, his wife Carole Gene of Mrytle Creek, Oregon, and son Terry L. Chambers of Anchorage, Alaska. Ralph had five living grandchildren, Anthony Chambers, Wade Chambers, Tina Chambers, Drew Chambers and Sean Chambers and several great grandchildren.A graveside service with full military honors will be conducted at 1PM on Tuesday, May 14th, 2019 in Arlington National Cemetery.Arrangements by R.
