Ray,

It's hard to believe your gone. Thank you for being a wonderful stepfather and grandfather to my children. So glad we were able to see you on Easter. Wished that we had been able to say goodbye to you before you left but you got sick and had to leave in a hurry. Didn't realize that would be that last time we would see you. I will never forgive myself for not calling you on Father's day. I will always regret that. Was totally going to call you but it slipped my mind. We had just gotten back from Tennessee. So sorry for not letting you know how much we loved & appreciated you and for not getting to say goodbye but I'm sure you knew in your heart. We know how much you loved us. Thank you for the graduation card that you gave to Shalen. That meant so much to her. Will never forget what a great stepfather you were to me & to my brothers and a wonderful grandfather you were to my children. Will always cherish the memories we had with you. Praying your in peace now and not having anymore pain in your knees. Paul Brian drew a picture of you, granny & Callie holding hands in heaven. Lauren says she loves you & will miss you. Give Granny, Pappa, Nan, Grandad, Candice & Callie my love. Will see you again in heaven. We all love you & will miss you very much.

Love,
Eve

My condolences to Ray's family. Ray was a dear friend, fraternity brother and someone I grew up with down town NN. I have a lot of great memories of times we spent together. The laughs we had playing softball together side by side in the outfield for over 30 years. I loved how he would throw his glove at the ball to try and stop it it if he could not get to it in time or if he got mad and slammed his glove on the ground. I will miss Ray very much and regret not being able to see him these past few years. He was a joy to be around and knew how to bring laughter to anyone's face. No more knee pain Ray! I love you Brother!

Susie and family,
Since the first grade, I have known your dear Ray as Raymond. We go way back. We were 6 year olds in Mrs. Brockley's first grade class at Thomas Jefferson. He was a funny kid. What a rascal! We all loved him. Of course, we attended school together until we finished at NNHS. Many Typhoons will miss him and we send you our sympathies and warm wishes.
May God bless and comfort you.

Pappa,
I love you so much. Thank you for being the best grandfather possible. You treated us all with such care. Although we didn't get to see you as much as I'd have liked in recent years, I was so glad to have seen you've final time on Easter. Thank you for always being there for me and thank you for letting me show my creativity by telling you stories and listening to yours. You were there for me up until the very end of my childhood, and although you may have not gotten to see me become a true adult, Saturday you will be there with us for my birthday. I hope I make you proud, Pappa, for I only hope that your spirit will live on in me. Thank you for everything. You are the best grandpa ever. Tell Granny, Callie, Grandpa, and Nanny I said hi and that I love them. See you soon.
With all of my love,
Miss America, your granddaughter, Shalen.

Dear Ray,
If you only knew how much I loved you! How very much I will miss you, not to mention your crazy sense of humor, that could even make me laugh when I was mad at you....
Thank you for loving my children and grandchildren, especially Shalen and Callie..We all loved you back..
You were a great inspiration in their lives...You had a gentle spirit and a very kind heart. I could always call you for advice when something was going on with the kids, for that I am grateful. I have gone thru many emotions this week, shock, anger, and now tears...tears that just keep falling and falling and falling...I hope I did everything that you wanted done and that you are smiling down from heaven. You are now, finally at peace....Godspeed to you, darling!
I will never forget you and will always love you.

Your Wife, Susie

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
