POQUOSON - Raymond William Lotkowictz passed away Friday, February 27th, 2015. He was born in South Amboy, NJ on July 20th, 1932 and graduated from Saint Mary's School in South Amboy and Middlesex County Tri-Vocational Technical High School, Perth Amboy, NJ. Upon his graduation in 1950, Ray enlisted in the Air Force. After completing basic training he was sent to Japan for two years, where he played in the US Air Force Band, entertaining the troops and dignitaries, such as the President of the Philippines. When he returned to the U.S., he was stationed at Langley AF Base and assigned to the AF band there. While there he met his wife, Laura Ferguson of Poquoson. They married in 1955 and moved to New Jersey, where they lived until their return to Virginia in 1976. Following his discharge from the Air Force, Ray was employed in New Jersey as an Electronic Technician for Airborne Accessories, Gulton Industries, Bendix Aviation, and was Plant Manager of Educasting Systems. He attended the Hartnett School of Music in New York City, NY, and played saxophone and clarinet in many local clubs and for weddings in New Jersey. Ray enjoyed the purchase, renovation, resale, and rental of homes and commercial real estate in both NJ and VA, including the historic Roquin Plantation in Brunswick County, VA. He was a licensed real estate broker, owning and operating Olde York Realty, Inc. in Yorktown, VA for a number of years prior to full time retirement. Ray is survived by his wife Laura Ferguson Lotkowictz; daughter Justine and son-in-law Guy Wilson; grandchildren, Alex (wife Alison), Coryn, and Michael Wilson; brother, Joseph Lotkowictz of South Amboy; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Isadore and Anna Jacobs Lotkowictz of South Amboy; sisters, Marion Hammond & husband Floyd of Lakeland, FL, Agnes Soos, and Helen Schlacht of South Amboy; brothers, William Lotkowictz and wife Marie of Largo, FL, Sylvester Lotkowictz and wife Elizabeth of New Brunswick, NJ, and Edward Lotkowictz and wife Mary of South Plainfield, NJ; and sister-in-law Ann Dill Lotkowictz, wife of his last living sibling Joseph. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 3, 11 AM-12:00 PM, at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church, Tabb, immediately followed at 12:00 PM by a Mass of the Resurrection by Father Charles J. Faul. Burial will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News, with military honors.
