YORKTOWN - Robert Garth Moorefield, 88, passed away on Saturday, May 1, 2010.
Robert was born on April 1, 1922, to John W. and Florence Traylor Moorefield. He was raised in Akron, Ohio, and attended the University of Akron while working in the rubber factories there. After finishing his college education, he married his college sweetheart, Kathleen Karr and began his career with the Federal bureau of Investigation. His FBI service took them to Miami, New York, California and Washington, D.C. After retirement, he and Kathleen turned to raising cattle in Virginia. Later, after returning to Fairfax, Va., for a time, full retirement brought them to Yorktown, Va.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Kathleen Lucy Karr Moorefield.
He is survived by a son, Dan Moorefield of Ohio; two daughters, Carol Sadick and Joan Sasinouski; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, at Arlington National Cemetery, Alexandria, Va.
