Robert Raymond "Buckshot" Parker, 85, a lifelong Newport News resident, died on Wednesday, January 9, 2019. He graduated from Morrison High School and was captain of their football and baseball teams; was a U.S. Army veteran and was a member of Deer Park Baptist Church. He retired from CSX after over 30 years of service. After retirement he enjoyed camping and restoring cars; and loved his Boston Terriers.Survivors include his wife Flo Parker; five children, Jefferey Parker (Anita) and Linda Williams (Gordon "Buck") all of Gloucester, Joy Robinson (Robert) of Newport News, Gary Fenner (Lorraine) of NC, and Sam Fenner of of Staunton; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sister and brothers, Dorothy Ammons, Carl Parker and Ralph Parker; and grandsons, Jeremy Parker, Brandon Fenner and Craig Fenner.A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Monday, January 14, 2019 at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Fields officiating. Visitation will begin one hour before the service at 12:00 PM. Burial with military honors will follow at 3 PM at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Arrangements by W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home.
