POQUOSON - Robert Toy Fowler, Sr. (Bobby), 74, a lifelong resident of the Peninsula, passed unexpectedly on September 30, 2017. He attended Fork Union Military Academy and graduated from Hampton High in 1960. Bobby, a prominent businessman was President of Fowler Land Co. He was a developer and builder of commercial and residential properties throughout the Peninsula. Bobby was a member of the Mercury Lions Club for many years, a former member of the James River Rod & Gun Club, and a current member of the CC6 Hunt Club. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he served on various committees. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Toy Neves and Mary Mitchell Fowler; wife, Margie Fowler; and brother, Thomas J. Fowler. He is survived by his loving family; children, Robert Toy Fowler, Jr. and his wife Sharon, Tamara Fowler, Marie Maynard and her husband Larry, Preston Ivey and his wife Julie, Mark Woodward, and Jill Cox; grandchildren, Mitchell Donavant, Austin Fowler, James Fowler, Becky Jinks, Josh Bunch, Ashley Bunch, Ember Maynard and Jordan Ivey; five great-grandchildren and one on the way; sister-in-law, Donna Fowler; and cousin, Betty Sims. The family will receive friends at Peninsula Funeral Home, Wednesday, October 4, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, Thursday, October 5, at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Tricia Riggs. Burial to follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army.
