Rolland Bradley Tinnon Obituary
May 17, 1956-December 16, 2018Beloved father, husband and martial arts teacher Rolland Bradley Tinnon, 62, of Newport News, was welcomed into heaven on Dec. 16, 2018. To all his students, he was "Master T" and Sa Bum Nim, a "fathering master" in Korean. A fifth-degree black belt in taekwondo, he opened Action Arts Academy in 1999, after earning state titles as a sparring competitor. Incredibly patient and kind, Brad put his soul into the school, promoting dozens of his own black belts. While teaching with wisdom and inspiration, he enjoyed imparting lessons from his failures. He would say he left his butt prints on every martial art school's floor from getting knocked down. He modeled how to be a leader, yet was humble and generous. His friends and family knew he loved them unconditionally. He had a memorable hearty laugh and his loved ones can be comforted with what Master T would say: "No worries." Born in Texarkana, and a self-proclaimed "Texican," he loved to tell stories about growing up in Nash, Texas. He intended to make a short stop in Newport News but stayed in the area and sold insurance. Greeting him in heaven were his mother Betty Lois Lane Tinnon, father Karl Rolland Tinnon and brothers Vernon Leon Tinnon and Karl Udele Tinnon. He is survived by wife Tricia Tinnon, daughter Nicole Tinnon, stepson Logan Boesch, and stepdaughter Lauren Boesch. A celebration of his life will be held 11 a.m. Jan. 19, 2019, at NorthSide Christian Church, 1300 George Washington Memorial Hwy., Yorktown.
