POQUOSON - Roman Elmore Rollins Jr., 105, entered eternal rest on Monday, October 24, 2016. He was born on August 7, 1911 to Roman and Vera Rollins and raised in Hampton, and was a Poquoson resident for over fifty years. After graduating from Hampton High School, Roman went to work at Newport News Shipyard as a time study analyst, where he retired in 1973. He was active in St. Tammany Masonic Lodge #5, Hampton, serving as Grand Master, and then Treasurer for more than 50 years. He was a devoted member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Men's Bible Class in Poquoson. Roman was preceeded in death by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Royals Rollins; his parents; brother, Forrest Rollins; and sister, Emily Christopher. He leaves to cherish his memories two sons, Roman Rollins III (Vicki), and Forrest Rollins (Carol); grandchildren, Teresa Chapins (Jeff), Chris Rollins, Forrest Rollins Jr. (Dana), Patrick Rollins (Bridgit), and Roman Rollins; and great-grandchildren, Peyton, Presley, and Caroline Rollins. The family will receive friends Friday, October 28, 5-7:00 PM, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson. Funeral services will be Saturday, 11:00 AM, at Trinity UMC, let by Rev. Charles R. Stacy. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton, with a reception following at the church.
