Rosalyn Holloway Pauls Obituary
POQUOSON - Rosalyn Holloway Pauls, 92, born Sept. 8, 1922 and the matriarch and soul survivor of her family, was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, March 14, 2015. She was a strong woman that had endured many hardships in her life, but she knew what she wanted and lived the way she chose to until the end, only to be greeted at Heaven's gates by all those she had loved and wept and mourned, for so long. Rosie a lifelong resident of Poquoson, and a proud graduate of the Poquoson High class of 1940. She worked proudly for the U.S. Government at Fort Eustis and retired after 27 years of service. She then returned to the workforce for 10 years at the Poquoson 7-11. To say Rosie loved animals, especially dogs, was an understatement. She never saw one that she didn't want. She leaves Boo-Boo, Angel, Lil Man, and Oscar behind to wish for her snacks and kisses. Rosie loved baseball and the Atlanta Braves, and enjoyed playing Bingo. Among her fondest memories are the times she spent on the water, fishing, clamming, cooking, and watching fireworks with her family. She loved the water, as the only daughter of a waterman, sister of several watermen, mother of a waterman, and aunt of watermen. Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, Martha Ann and Henry Franklin Holloway; her husband and love of her life, William Osborne Pauls, Sr.; and their only child, William "Butch" Osborne Pauls Jr. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her "Bubba", Fay R. Holloway Jr. & wife Julie, and their two sons, daughter-in-law, and three grandsons; her "B.B.", Bennie Hogge III & wife Crystal, and their two sons, daughter, and granddaughter; two sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 17, 6:30-8:00 PM at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson. A Celebration of Rosie's life will be held Wednesday, 12:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Eastern Cemetery, Poquoson, followed by a reception for family and friends at her home, 114 Messick Rd., Poquoson. Memorial contributions may be made to Poquoson Volunteer Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 2099, Poquoson, VA, 23662. Online condolences to claytorrollins.com . "The family would like to thank the Poquoson Volunteer Fire & Rescue Dept. from the bottom of their hearts for all your help. You have gone above and beyond the call the duty with your thoughtfulness and compassion."
