POQUOSON - Suzanne "Susie" Baldwin Kesler, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, went home to the Lord on March 26, 2014, after a short illness. Her passing is a celebration of an earthly life fulfilled and a heavenly life to begin. She is survived by a daughter, Kathy Barber (Paul) and eight grandchildren: Meredith, Jack , Ellie and Christopher Barber of Poquoson, VA; Chase, Maddie, Mac and Patrick Williams of Midlothian, VA. A sister also survives, Janet Baldwin Evans, of Midlothian, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents John (Jack) Edward and Ella Holmes Baldwin, her daughter, Elizabeth Kesler Finnegan Williams and her former husband William (Bill) Kesler. Susie was born in Frostburg, MD in 1935 and lived in Piedmont, WV during her toddler years. The family moved to Front Royal, VA in 1940 where she spent her youth, attending the local elementary school and Warren County High School. Many of her continuing and loving relationships were formed there. Susie graduated from Madison College with a BS in Education in 1957 where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. Following graduation, she taught elementary school in Winchester, VA. Susie gave up teaching to raise her two daughters but returned to it when she moved back to Front Royal years later. After surviving a brain aneurysm in 2000, she moved first to Midlothian, VA, and then to Poquoson, VA to be near her daughters and their families. She had just recently moved to The Chamberlin Senior Living Residence in Hampton. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and others at Sentara for their compassionate care of Susie and her family. Memorial tributes may be made to the or Peninsula Habitat for Humanity. The family will receive friends 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday, March 30 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held at 6:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Friends are encouraged to visit www.parklawn-woodfh.com to share memories and words of condolence with the family.
