POQUOSON - William Asa Forrest, 86, a native & lifelong resident of Poquoson, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2013 after a long illness. He retired from N.A.S.A. after 34 years, and later retired as co-owner of Blake and Bass Seafood Co. in Newport News. He was a graduate of Hargrave Military Academy; was a U.S. Navy veteran; a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Poquoson; a member of James River Country Club; a member of Poquoson Masonic Lodge #49; and a member of Poquoson Lions Club. Asa was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Holloway, and father, Asa Forrest. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Annette Lawson Forrest; son, David L. Forrest of Newport News; and grandsons, Bradley Lawson Forrest and Evan David Forrest, both of Charlottesville, VA. The family will receive friends Friday, 9-10:00 AM, at Trinity United Methodist Church, immediately followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM at the church by Rev. George T. Insley Jr. Burial will follow at Weston Cemetery, Poquoson. At other times the family will be at the home, 12 N.
